Don Manuel Velázquez Cabrera

Realist-style statue made of bronze depicting Don Manuel Velázquez Cabrera seated in a chair. The statue is accompanied by a plaque that reads "Manuel Velázquez Cabrera (1831-1916). Lawyer born in Tiscamanita, he was the author and promoter of the plebiscite of the minor islands (Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, El Hierro, and Gomera), a participatory civic action that decisively influenced the 1912 law that created the island councils and granted representation in the Cortes to said islands. He is one of the fathers of the cabildo and defender of the peripheral islands of the Canary archipelago".
