In 1999, the work of one of the most outstanding protagonists of contemporary Canarian sculpture, Juan Bordes, was installed in Puerto del Rosario, becoming part of the city's heritage. Caracolas, which is the title of the work, made in patinated aluminum and distributed in four pieces, was installed in a very original way on the breakwater of the Wharf, next to the Avenida Marítima. The importance of this sculptor, and the excellence of the work he created, deserves even greater attention, both in its conservation and maintenance, as well as in providing access for the public interested in contemplating it. The representation of these large-scale mollusks emphasizes Puerto del Rosario's connection with the sea.
