Reloj de Sol

Official title: Reloj Veleta

The artist Javier Camarasa, who has been based in Fuerteventura for several years, created this large vertical sundial, 3m high and 9m wide, which weighs about 10 tons and is installed within a roundabout where vehicles circulate. The enormous clock is made of steel and concrete and has a four-blade weather vane that measures 7m in height, made with steel and Teflon. The sculpture captures the two characteristic elements of Fuerteventura, the sun and the wind, with the purpose of embodying these two determining factors of the island in time.
